VediKure handmade soap is a range of six natural bar soaps made in the United States with saponified organic oils. Each 4 oz bar is built on olive oil, coconut oil and fair trade palm oil, then finished with either pure essential oils or a signature addition like activated charcoal, lavender buds or goat milk and honey. No sulfates, no parabens, no mineral oil.

    Every bar starts the same way: oils turned into soap through saponification. That word on the label means the oils were combined with lye, which reacts completely during soapmaking. No lye remains in the finished bar, only soap and naturally retained glycerin.

How to make a bar last

Handmade soap is softer than mass-market bars because the natural glycerin stays in. How you store it decides how long it lasts.

  1. 1Lather in your hands

    Work the bar with warm water in your palms rather than rubbing it straight on skin. You get a thicker lather from less soap.

  2. 2Drain it between uses

    A soap dish with drainage matters more than anything else. A bar sitting in a puddle dissolves from underneath.

  3. 3Keep it out of the spray

    Store the bar where the shower stream does not hit it directly.

  4. 4Rotate two bars

    If you buy more than one, alternating them gives each bar time to fully dry, and both last longer.

Common questions

What makes a soap handmade?

Handmade soap is made by combining oils with lye so the natural glycerin created during soapmaking stays in the bar. Mass-market bars often remove that glycerin and are technically synthetic detergents rather than soap.

Is there lye in these bars?

Lye is required to make any true soap, but it reacts fully with the oils during saponification. The finished bar contains no lye. That is what saponified oils on the ingredient list means.

Are these sulfate free?

Yes. True soap made from saponified oils cleans without synthetic sulfate detergents. All six bars are sulfate free, paraben free and phthalate free.

Which bar is best for dry skin?

Start with Aava. Goat milk, honey and a shea butter base make it the most moisturizing bar in the range, and the oatmeal gives light exfoliation without scratching.

Which bar is best for oily skin?

ShivChar. Activated charcoal absorbs excess oil and the bar is formulated for deep cleansing on both face and body without staining the skin.

Are the soaps vegan?

Five of the six are vegan friendly: ShivChar, NIRVANA, Lavera, AtmaBar and EkAloe. Aava is not, because it contains goat milk and honey.

Are these organic soaps?

Every bar is made with organic oils, and the palm and coconut oils are fair trade. The finished bars are not certified organic products, so we say made with organic oils, which is what the labels support.

Can I use these on my face?

ShivChar is formulated for face and body. The others are body bars first. If you use any bar on your face, the essential oil bars deserve a patch test on the jawline before regular use.

Why does handmade soap cost more than a drugstore bar?

The glycerin stays in the bar instead of being extracted and sold separately, the palm and coconut oils are fair trade, and each bar is 4 oz of soap with no fillers. A drugstore bar wins on price. It does not win on the ingredient list.
