Key ingredients

Eleven ingredients. Three that shape how it feels.

  • Sweet Almond Oil

    Sweet Almond Oil

The fourth ingredient. A light plant oil that keeps the gel from drying tight or tacky on the skin, so it sits comfortably under moisturiser. It is pressed from almonds, so it is a tree nut oil. If that matters to you, this gel is not for you.

  • Aloe Vera

    Aloe Vera Gel

The first ingredient and the base of the whole formula, where most gels use water. A humectant, so it holds water against the skin. It is why the gel feels cool going on and leaves no film behind.

  • Cucumber Extract

    Cucumber Extract

Mostly water with a little natural sugar and mineral, which is why it feels light and cooling on the skin. It is here for feel, not for function. A small ingredient, sixth on the label.

Get the most out of it

Three habits that make a leave-on gel work better

  1. 1 Clean skin first

Gel on top of oil and sunscreen sits on the surface and does nothing. Wash, pat dry, then apply.

  2. 2 Thin layer, target only

A small dollop on the area you want to look calmer. Spreading it over the whole face just uses it up and puts tea tree oil where you did not need it.

  3. 3 Let it dry before the next step

Give it a minute. Moisturiser or sunscreen on wet gel turns it into a pill of rubbery bits.

Why people pick it

Five things you can check on the label

  • Eleven Ingredients Short list, every one named on this page, including the ones you might want to avoid.

Before you buy

Three things worth knowing

  • The tea tree oil stays on your skin

In a cleanser, tea tree is on your face for under a minute. In this gel it stays on for hours. That is more exposure, so it matters more here. Tea tree oil is one of the better documented contact sensitisers in cosmetics, and it gets more sensitising once it has oxidised. Keep the cap on and the bottle out of the sun. If you have reacted to tea tree before, this is not for you.

  • It contains a tree nut oil and a salicylate source

Sweet almond oil is the fourth ingredient. Black willow bark oil is a plant source of salicin. If you have a tree nut allergy, or you avoid salicylates or aspirin-related compounds for any reason, skip this gel. Both are printed on the label, and we would rather you read it here than find out after.

  • It is a cosmetic, not a treatment

It can make skin look calmer and feel less shiny. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent acne or any other skin condition, and we will not tell you otherwise. If you are treating a diagnosed condition, ask your clinician what belongs in your routine.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Is this a treatment for acne or spots?

No. It is a cosmetic gel. It can make skin look calmer and feel less oily for a while, and that is all we claim. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent acne or any skin condition. If you are treating a diagnosed condition, ask your clinician before adding it.

Where do I put it?

On clean, lightly dried skin, on the areas you want to look calmer. Chin, nose, forehead, wherever. It is made for targeted use, not as an all-over moisturiser. If you want something for the whole face after washing, Amastra tallow cream is the better fit.

Does it contain nuts?

Yes. Sweet almond oil is the fourth ingredient. If you have a tree nut allergy, do not use it.

Is it fragrance-free?

There is no added fragrance. Tea tree oil is in the formula and you will smell it. So no, it is not unscented.

What is black willow bark, and why is it 2%?

Willow bark is a plant source of salicin, a relative of the salicylates found in aspirin. It is the only ingredient on this label with a declared percentage, 2%. If you avoid salicylates for any reason, skip this gel.

Morning or night?

Either. Cleanse, pat dry, apply a thin layer to the target area, let it dry for a minute, then moisturiser and sunscreen if it is morning. Once a day is enough to start.

Will it sting?

It can tingle for a moment, mostly from the tea tree oil. Stinging that lasts, redness that spreads, or heat means stop and rinse it off. Patch test on your jawline for a few days before the first full use.
